Following the acquisition of A1 Motorcycles Ltd, Flint in 2022 I thought it was a good time to share an overview of the business so far and the changes & transition activities we hope to bring as we enter another biking season in 2024.
The Team
A1 Motorcycles Ltd was established over 30 years ago by the previous owner Tony Morris who is well known in the local motorcycle community and who successfully built up a reputable independent motorcycle business which has offered all workshop activities, used bike sales and motorcycling accessories. Tony continues to run the shop as general manager together with Russel Hughes our motorcycle mechanic of over 10 years.
A reflection on the first full year of trading brings with it new challenges for all local community businesses considering the cost-of-living increases, running expenses and a recessed motorcycle market in general running into the last quarter of 2023 and the start of 2024.
Thank You to Our Customers
First, I would like to mention that without our loyal and local customers who continue not only to support A1 motorcycles but create an environment at the shop which is second to none. One of the benefits I feel of being a small independent dealer is the ability to offer not only local competitive prices but provide our customers with a warm and pleasant space to feel at home without big dealer pressures.
Secondly, as many of our existing customers know, over the last 12 months we have refreshed our premises, created a waiting area with complimentary drinks, expanded our product range by securing new relationships with Oxford Products, MT, HJC & Shark helmets, as well as many more which we can offer in store or online. As well as our premises, we have taken our online presence to the next step to allow our customers an alternative to in store purchasing, a brand-new website with social media and an upgoing online shop for all our products.
Thirdly, we have been successful in securing a brand-new dealer relationship for new bikes supplied by our partner MotoGB, we offer competitive new bikes from Keeway, Sym and starting in March 2024 Voge Motorcycles. This allows us to provide a complete 125cc Learner package to get young people onto 2 wheels safely and competitively. Our vision is to provide younger /new riders the opportunity to purchase a bike, all the necessary clothing, helmet, everything to keep them safe whilst on the road. Coupled with our direct partnership with Dragon Motorcycles Training Centre.
Whats Next
As we move into the new 2 wheeled season, our plan is to continue this first year of rebuilding by expanding our new bike portfolio and floor stock available to view as well as demonstrators, implement flexible methods of payment such as Klarna to increase our online offering to all customers near and far. We will be publishing a regular newsletter as well as new bike updates from March and plan to have our second open day & BBQ in May following the success of last years launch event.
Finally, I want to personally thank all our existing and new customers who have supported A1 Motorcycles over the last 12 months, market conditions remain uncertain for all motorcycle dealers, and I hope we can continue to count on your business as we move into the new season.
Please use the comments section to let us know if there are any services or products you would like to see us offer going forward to make A1 Motorcycles your go to for everything motorcycles!
Thanks
Gary - Owner
